AAHS Receives Historic Preservation Award
The Tumamoc Hill Rock Art Recording Project carried out by AAHS under the leadership of Peter Boyle and Gayle Hartmann has just received an Historic Preservations Award from the Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission. The award citation reads:
“Volunteers undertaking this project documented and mapped the rock art, thus providing a baseline for land managers to evaluate impacts, and prepared a successful National Register of Historic Places nomination for the archaeological component of Tumamoc Hill, which was listed at the national level of significance.”
Congratulations to the AAHS members who put in many hours on this project. Copies of the recent Arizona State Museum Anthropological Paper documenting this work are available through the AAHS website store.
