Verde Valley Archaeology Center and The Crane Petroglyph Heritage Site

Join the Arizona Archeological and Historical Society for a one-day in-depth tour of Verde Valley archaeology! Monica Buckle, Executive Director at the Verde Valley Archaeology Center (VVAC) will give a tour of VVAC and their new exhibit: Archaeological Innovations in Cultural Resource Management. Afterwards, the group will visit The Crane Petroglyph Heritage Site at V-V Historic Ranch where Ken Zoll (Director Emeritus of VVAC) serves as a Docent on Saturdays.

The day will be concluded at Cove Mesa Vineyard Wine Tasting Room in Cornville to eat lunch and socialize. The winery is indoors, has a great atmosphere, and a nice food menu to order from.

Itinerary

  • 9:30 am – meet at VVAC, coffee & snacks, behind the scenes tour of the museum
  • 10:30 am – head to Crane Petroglyph site, a Southern Sinagua Beaver Creek Community Rock Art site
      1. An indoor restroom is present at The Crane Site
  • 11:00-11:40 am – guided talk and tour by Ken Zoll
  • ~12:00 pm – depart for Cove Mesa Vineyard to have lunch

Reminder: Wear hiking shoes suitable for trails and bring water.

Fee: A $5/person museum fee is required
