Orrell Grant Recipients
2018-2019 Academic Year – AAHS awarded the first Orrell Curriculum Development Grant to Lulu Walker Elementary School, Tucson (Jane Peterson) to support their Annual 4th Grade Pit Fire Day at Catalina State Park as a culminating activity wrapping up their Arizona State Social Studies unit on Native American history and study of traditional Pueblo Pottery.
2019-2020 Academic Year – Innovation Academy, Oro Valley (Mabel Rivera) to create an excavation site at the school.

BASIS Tucson North (Porter McDonald) was awarded a grant for curriculum development related to the use of shell by ancient people of the Sonoran Desert and their relationship to the sea.
2020-2021 Academic Year – Arizona Project Archaeology (Joanna Brace) to develop an “Investigating Shelter” curriculum based on Hohokam archaeology for grades three thru five.
2023-2024 Academic Year – Sam Hughes Elementary (Theresa Barry) for a 5th Grade Archaeology Project with Old Pueblo Archaeology.
